Here's the Background Story: Our neighborhood playgroup is hosting a baby shower for 4 women who are having baby girls in March. (How cool is that!!!!) I am included : ) and totally excited about this awesome gesture.

The baby shower is a no gifts required shower just a great opportunity to meet the group members. However, there has been the idea of giving all 4 ladies covered dishes to freeze and have available to serve when the baby comes.
What a great idea so that we don't have to worry about cooking : )
So here is my question...do I bring a covered dish for the other 3 ladies?
What kind of dish should I bring? What freezes well?
Do I give a gift to the other ladies?
Do I give a gift to the ladies that are hosting the gift? This is a sponsored shower.
What would you do?
Your thoughts, ideas, and
knowledge is GREATLY APPRECIATED : )
I would take a dish, just to be safe. And my standard "baby's comin'" freezer meal is a homemade chicken pot pie. Super easy to make, freezes well, and is generally "safe" for nursing Mommas who might have to watch out for the spicy foods.
ReplyDeleteWhat a nice thing they are doing for all of you expecting mothers. I wouldn't think that you should cook for the other 3 pregnant ladies because the whole idea is to make it easy on all 4 of you. I think a hostess gift is a good idea though!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the comment about the furniture! I have to say, I love it, too! No, the blankets on the cribs are actually play quilts (they are fairly small and square, perfect for playing on the floor) my sister-in-law and her sister made for the babies for Christmas. The same fabrics will be used (along with several others) in patchwork on the dust ruffles on the crib, on the valance, and on rocking chair pad covers.
ReplyDeleteAs for your post...I have to agree with Deb. You shouldn't have to cook because the shower is for you, also, and a hostess gift is probably a good idea.
What a fun time!
I would take a meal....Maybe a lasagna?? I'm not a cook!! LOL

Awe! That's so awesome and generous! I would check with one of the hosts. I don't think it's ever a bad idea to contribute something even if you are one of the honorees. Lasagna, soup or like one other lady said chicken pot pie are always great freezer meals. I think a hostess gift is always a good idea.
ReplyDeleteI would take a dish, defiantly. Enchiladas would be a good freezer dish...
ReplyDeleteOf course that might not be too good for a nursing Mama! What about cinnamon rolls? Something easy for breakfasts. I'm not good about freezing meals. I do freeze stew sometimes, but I would do a stew with steak rather hamburger. Seems like the hamburger tends to break down.
