Just a simple song ...But our family has been graciously blessed this week. And it's been a beautiful ride.

It's A Family Tradition

Today Jason and I went to the St. Mary's Catholic Church Polish Festival in Brenham. My mom's side of the family has deep roots in the Polish heritage so this was just a step back in time for me. However, for Jason this was a whole new experience. We enjoyed Polish music, good food, and seeing family. What a great time!

Czernina [t​͡ʂɛrˈnina] (from czarny "black"; sometimes also Czarnina or Czarna polewka) is a Polish soup made of duck blood (sometimes hen, rabbit or pigs blood would be used) and clear poultry broth. In English it is referred to as Duck Blood Soup.

Generally the sweet and sour taste of the soup comes from the addition of sugar and vinegar. However, there are hundreds of recipes popular in different parts of Poland and Lithuania. Among the ingredients used are plum or pear syrup, dried pears, plums or cherries, apple vinegar and honey. Like most Polish soups, czernina is usually served with fine noodles, macaroni or boiled potatoes.

Until the 19th century czernina was also a symbol in Polish culture. It was served to young men applying for the hand of their beloved ones after the parents rejected their proposal. It is a plot element in Pan Tadeusz, a famous Polish epic poem by Adam Mickiewicz.
It is also a regional dish in Kaszuby and Poznań.

Three years ago I was getting ready to marry the man of my dreams, my Cowboy. I will share more later this week but for now I am going to enjoy this time in marital bliss.

Crazy Fun!!

Cowboy and I have been enjoying ourselves on the Williamson Farm the past few weekends. However, this weekend we decided to embrace the beautiful weather and take a few road trips.

On Saturday, we ventured out to Crockett, Texas to put on the finishing touches for deer season. I woke up thinking, "today is a special today" but I couldn't remember what it is.

Until I saw this handsome boy.....

Jason and I had to sight in his 30-06 deer rifle. He wanted me to take a few shots since I am such a sharp shooter, HA!!

I can't believe I have been married to this wonderful guy for almost 3 years!!!

On Sunday, we traveled to visit my parents and enjoy another church bazaar. We also saw my Grandma S. and enjoyed a great chat about many Czech traditions she had growing up (while watching the Texans game). All the reminiscing made us go home and make homemade Schmazenhas, it's a Czech donut. We had so much fun that we decided that next weekend we are going to a Polish Festival in Brenham. Jason has never been so culturalized before!!

We enjoyed the past few weekends relaxing at home but we sometimes miss wild Williamson adventures...the best is yet to be!!

The Month of Weddings

October should be known as the month of LOVE. I have many family members with wedding anniversaries in October. We wish them all many more years of happiness. Most importantly, this is our anniversary month as well as my parents.

Jason and I tried to have our wedding on October 13th like my parents but it conflicted with county fair schedules and church activities. It's sad when the day of your wedding revolves around the stock show, HA!! Now we are excited to have 2 special anniversaries weeks apart since ours is in less than 10 days!!!
