Memorial Day Weekend 2012

We had a wonderful weekend together at home full lots of fun.  We figured we wouldn't dare fight the traffic and crowds with a very busy toddler.  We will have plenty of summer weekends for that.

We ventured out to our neighborhood pool all three days.

And throughout the weekend we never forgot the reason why we could enjoy a wonderful weekend of family time.  Thank you Veterans.

Our weekend

This weekend was very low key and we enjoyed some good family fun.  We ran errands, relaxed and played in the pool. 

On Sunday we went to our neighborhood pool and park for some swimming time and playtime.  Kendalyn has always loved the water and this time was no different.  She had so much fun.  Daddy has had many years in swimming so he is teaching Kendalyn many things.  We think she will be a swimmer by the end of the summer.  She holds her breath and kicks like a pro.  Last summer daddy taught her how to blow bubbles in the water and she remembers!!!

After a long nap  ; ) daddy decided to set up her swimming pools.  He does so much for his baby girl and she loved it.

We did have a wardrobe change but I didn't take a picture of her first swimsuit.  She looked adorable.

While us ladies lounged around by the pool, (LOL)  daddy played in his garden.  The garden is doing well this year.

My herb garden.  I said one day I wanted blooming flowers and herbs everywhere.  This year we succeeded.  The flowers are pretty much done blooming in this pic...but you get the idea.  I love looking out every morning to this beautiful sight.

Every year we have plenty of cucumbers, squash and zuchinni but this year we lots and lots of tomatoes and none of the other.  Blame it on the weather??!! Hmmmmmm

The big garden full of who knows what, ha ha!!!  We shall soon find out.  More tomatoes, melons, beans, ?, ? , ?  ; )

Miss K was sick all week and then the weekend came and daddy and I got sick. Ugh!!
But on Saturday we did take a trip to town to the Farmer's Market and Crawfish Festival. Here are a few pics of Miss K on the pony ride with a little bit of trick riding. She had a blast!!

A historial memory

2012 is a historical time in our country as we elect a new President of the United States.  Recently, Republician candidate hopeful Dr. Ron Paul was at the University of Houston.  We thought it would be a great historical experience to share with Kendalyn.  It had been a second visit for my Cowboy to be at the University of Houston and the first time that Kendalyn and I were on the campus. 



There was over 4,000 people in attendance.  The event lasted about an hour.  Dr. Paul is such an eloquent speaker and knowledgeable man.

Aggieland Adventure Continued

During our trip a few weekends ago to College Station we made a stop for some pictures on campus.  We were there during Muster, a time-honored celebration of Aggies.  So this was an extra special time to share with Kendalyn during her first time at Texas A&M. 
We visited Harrington Tower.  This is the education building that I spent many long hours at, HA!! 

 This is the statue of the teacher and students in front of the tower.  My family and I took a picture here when I graduated. 

Then we went to the Century Tree.

We made one last stop at the Sul Ross Statue at the Academic Building.  However, K was more intrigued by the bow she found instead of taking a picture.  Said bow was not ours.

 
It was 6:00 and time for dinner.  But not until we got a sneak picture of some of the Corp of Cadets at the flag on campus.  Silver Taps is another time-honored tradition that takes place in this exact spot every month or so. 

My little Aggie experienced so much on this day.  These pictures are a wonderful memory.  After dinner at the Chicken Oil Company that I shared in the previous post we ran to the mall to get a few Aggie duds since we are growing out of what we have...Miss K not us, LOL!!

A weekend trip

A couple of weekends ago we took a trip to College Station. Kendalyn was invited to a birthday party and we took the opportunity to play in Aggieland. The day will come in a couple of posts as we used every camera phone or camera during the trip. For dinner we went to The Chicken Oil Company. A great restaurant that has good burgers and even better Tijuana fries. The fries are covered in three different cheeses and served with Ranch Dressing. A heart attack on a plate but sssoooo good. Kendalyn's reaction to eating the fries was priceless as she gave two thumbs up or the infamous Aggie Gig 'Em sign as mom would like to think.
