Here a book, there a book

I have been buying a lot of books lately. OK, like 6 books in the last month, shhh, don't tell my Cowboy. We have a Book Club at work and we are pretty current on the newests reads. Although many of them have the Kindles and I am still an old-skool girl with my paperback.

My latest reads have been...

I was in Tar-jay today and went through the aisles hoping and praying to find

Have you seen McMama's post about this book?!!! AMAZING!! I follow Angie's blog as well. I have known about their story and read about her journey in writing the book. I admire her courage and strength.
My Cowboy and I are heading through H-town tomorrow and out to the Play Pen Ranch so Barnes & Noble, here I come!!!

I did come across and scream loudly in the aisles to find this book, well in my mind. HA!!
I am excited to try it out!!!

Have you tried out her cookbook? What are you reading??

So obviously...

when I shared this picture of my Cowboy coming home like this

because I had some sort of stomach bug. We never would have realized that it could be more than a just 24 hour-bug. Now it will entail a bit of a hospital trip(out patient) and sedation to check out
My stomach
Of course, before I go to the doctor I use the diagnosis of "Goggle Search" to figure out what I have. I type in the search box the symptoms I have had now for months and never put two and two together. A list of options comes up but all I really wanted was a quick cure. I do hope that in May when I go in for this "easy" procedure as the Doc described it that I come out with my mind set at ease that life will be normal again.
Last night I decided that I will take each day as it comes...StreSS FreE!! Wish me luck!!

A Saturday Road Trip

My Cowboy and I loaded up "Suzi" and headed down I-10 to Halletsville, Texas for "MY" Aunt Becky's Surprise Birthday Party. (Cowboy and I both have an Aunt Becky so I finally had to refer to her and her party as, My Becky, ha)

Me, Aunt Becky, mom and dad

We were at the Halletsville Garden Center. It is so cute out there; big trees, a park, and a small town history. That part of the "country" is neat.

Vanessa calling everyone in for a yummy dinner.

Vanessa's husband Chris and Mallory.
We missed getting pictures of Chris and Vanessa's boys. They were very busy playing : )

Robert and Elena

Thanks again guys for a wonderful time.
Aunt Becky, we wish you a very Happy Birthday!!
We can't wait to do it again soon!!!

What's happening...Down on the Farm!!

We have been busy here on the farm.

I was studying for a test I had on Saturday. Fingers crossed!!

Cowboy was reading up on chickens and gardening.

We have been blogging for 1 year on the 16th!!!

Dinner with the family for Cole's birthday

Check out what's growing at our house

Roses...too bad they are on the side of the house that we rarely frequent. The neighbors see them more than us, : (

A pretty pink flower bush, sorry don't know the name
My herb garden. Many things are going to seed but we still have a lot growing. My Cowboy bought me the birdbath on Sunday. I can't wait to wake up Saturday morning to the birds playing in it.

While I was taking my test, My Cowboy and the neighbor were working on the garden. They had to stop because they ran out of stained wood. Obviously, I am the only painter in the family or he missed me.

Bridal bouquet

Mini roses

Lime tree

CORN!!

Strawberries. We have had them for 2 years now. On the third year, they are ready for picking.
Cabbage. How perfect does that look??!!!

Cucumbers getting ready to grow on the ladder.

Potatoes, onion, squash, beans

Beans. Yes, we have funeral home stakes propped up for the beans to grow on. Hey, they were free, sturdy and will work great.

Asparagus. They grow like a fern at first and then next year we will see changes. We won't be able to eat them until the third year, like the strawberries.

Blueberries

Grapevine

Flowers!!!

Flowers blooming on the chives

Our lil worm friend

Flowers on the cilantros

The growing babies

REMINGTON!!! He turned 14 months old on the 17th.

OK so hopefully we are all caught up. There is still a lot of things going on but that will have to wait for another post. Now I'll have to take some time to check in with all of you.

Questions answered and Cornbread Salad

Happy Wednesday to you all!!

Y'all are so sweet to ask about my "After church Easter dress" HA!!! I think I got it at Kohl's. I say I think because I really don't remember and the tag does me no good. I got it last summer. Once My Cowboy was laid off last July it's been strange/difficult/weird to get something for myself so I have been shopping in the back of my closet. My church dress was actually a shop in the closet find too. I bought it the weekend before the layoff. It was neat to find a brand new dress in my closet : )

I know some of you asked where I found these too. I bought them on Ebay. They were the cheapest I could find. Some prices were $40 and $50 for only the 4. I got them for $20 for all 4. It has been a real lifesaver if I can't get outside and water the hanging baskets daily.

I made this recipe for Easter lunch. I wanted to share.
Cornbread Salad Recipe
1 package of Jiffy cornbread mix
(because it is sweet)
8 slices of crispy bacon
1 tomato
1 bell pepper
1 onion
2 stalks of celery
1 cup of mayo
Prepare the cornbread mix as directed.
Allow cornbread to cool, then crumble in a bowl.
Add chopped tomato, bell pepper, onion, celery, and bacon.
Mix in mayo and chill until ready to serve.
It is so good!!!

Enjoy!! I loved getting your questions and I'm glad I could answer them. So fun!!!
