Three Weeks Old

Three Weeks Old!!
Kendalyn Nicole, You are a growing little girl. These past three weeks have flown by and have been amazing. Your dad and I are so proud of how you are growing. You have had many firsts this week. You attended your first birthday party, your grandpa's. You went to Babies R Us and traveled through many towns for the first time to get to grammy's and grandpa's and then back home again. You went to dad's office for lunch with him. You were loved on by all the ladies in the office. You love going outside. You have been in your swing and infant soothing seat. You will sit in them for a few minutes but prefer being in someone's arms.
(I LOVE these little feet)
We went to the doctor again and you have gained weight!! You are now 7 lbs. 6 oz. You are doing very well on holding your head up. It won't be long that you will be stable.
We enjoy you so much baby girl and love watching you grow.

Two Week Old & Newborn Check

Two Weeks Old!!

Kendalyn, you were two weeks old on Sunday but I wanted to post about your newborn check. We had your first doctor's appointment today. It was also the first time that you and I went somewhere together. I only stopped on the side of the road 5 times...not bad...HA!!

This was the first week that you and Mommy were together during the day. We are both excited when daddy comes home from work. We are adjusting to a schedule. You have taken to the 2-3 hour nap and 2-3 hour feeding/diaper change/wake time...even at night.

You love being close to daddy or I. And we don't mind, your snuggles and cuddles are the best. You love being swaddled and daddy is good at that. You love being outside in the evening (for a few minutes).

At your doctor's appointment, you weigh 6 lbs. 11 oz. You are gaining weight very well especially since you left the hospital so small. You've gained 1 pound. Your height is 20 inches. Daddy and I could tell that you are a growing girl.
The appointment was quite an experience. You did well considering you were in my arms the entire time the doctor was checking you out. When we got to the appointment you decided to have a HUGE diaper EmErGEnCy!! And we survived it. The doctor answered all of mommy's questions. She kept saying how beautiful you are and how perfect your little face is....Mommy and Daddy couldn't agree more.

You also lost your umbilical cord on Tuesday and rolled over from your tummy to your back on Wednesday. I am sure it was a one time experience for some time but it just shows how strong you are or gifted like mommy and daddy like to think : )
We have been so blessed these past two weeks. Kendalyn Nicole, we love you so much.

Our Weekend

Week 2 with Miss K is in the books. We enjoyed eating, sleeping, and diaper changes. We are getting to know her personality and love every minute of it. We still had help this week from my mom and aunt. My recovery has not been the best. Without going into details, we've had to go to the hospital every other day last week. However, I am doing much better and hope the trips to the hospital will be coming to an end soon.

I started feeling better on Friday and hubby brought home a bottle of wine for me. I enjoyed sipping on a glass of wine.

*No mommy or baby was put into any harm during this time of tasting.

On Saturday we enjoyed naps, diaper changes and feedings while daddy worked outside in the garden. It's turning into a Garden Oasis. He has done a great job.

On Sunday, Grammy and Grandpa came by for lunch and to visit with Kendalyn.

We've always enjoyed our relaxing weekends at home but somehow they just keep getting better and better.

One Week Old

Kendalyn,

You turned one week old this past Sunday. Today was your actual due date and you are 10 days old. Many things have gone on since you have come into the world.

*Daddy and I have adjusted to life with a baby. But it wouldn't be possible without the help of my mom and aunt who have done so much for us.
*You are feeding very well. It has come with a few challenges but overall it's been working out.
*You get fussy when you are getting your diaper changed or a bath.
*You are sleeping through the night!!! We can put you down between 10 and 11 and you will wake up around 5! JACKPOT!!!
*When the nurses put you in the warmer at the hospital you started to arch your back up off the warmer. You can hold your head up for a few minutes at a time. You are strong.
*You have very good reflexes. You grab for different things.

*Your smile is to die for.

*You warm our hearts so much.

*You are a tiny gift from above and we can't believe you are ours.

Kendalyn Nicole, you are the light of our lives.

A Picture, 2, or 3

We are adjusting to life as a family of 3. We've had the help of my mom the past couple of days and she has been a lifesaver. It will be fun to see how this weekend goes ; )

Here's a few shots of Miss K when we were leaving the hospital.

Love this face

And in all this madness I forgot to post a picture of my cousin Shanna with Kendalyn. Shanna was a Sunday visitor : ) Her daughter Avery was at home so we are excited to have Avery and Kendalyn meet for the 1st time.

Kendalyn and I had our first outing today. We are both in need of a nap so I will be posting about it soon. : )

The Birth Story

Friday night I was experiencing some sort of contractions but they weren't like what I had experienced before....Go Figure.

Saturday morning around 3am I woke up with labor pains/contractions. I wasn't sure at this point. I started timing them...in the dark writing the times down...so that my Cowboy could get a good night's sleep for his birthday. Remember this was our last weekend together and his birthday. The contractions were very random.

I called the hospital around 8am and they said drink water and that would help. It did for a few rounds. So we decided to start organizing things, pack up, and head out.
Turning off the TV all preggo and Ready to GO!!!

One last Baby Bump pic...38 weeks and 3 days.
We arrived to the hospital around 1pm. I was already dilated 3-4 cm and we were staying!!!!!
Got my epidural around 5pm

At 6pm I was 6 cms dilated....and the pics stopped. Kendalyn's heartrate dropped and the discussion of a c-section started. The nurses turned off the pitocin but her heartrate was never where they wanted it to be.
Things were looking better after an hour or 2 and everything started up again. The nurses checked and we were at 10 cm at 10pm. We started to push and Kendalyn's heartrate dropped and we found that she was not coming out correctly and there was a possiblility that the umbilical cord was around her neck or too short.
I was wheeled in for a c-section at midnight
Miss K made her debut at 12:31 a.m.

We had lots of family there for support and anticipating her. Everything worked out well and we have a healthy baby girl.

We are so proud to be her mommy and daddy.

Our first family picture. Not what I had planned but I wouldn't change it for the world.

We had found out that my doctor was on vacation over the weekend halfway through labor. However, in her place she had asked for the head of OB/GYN of the hospital to take her place. He was perfect for us and helped us to understand what was going on. He would talk to me and hubby and then would talk to the family. What a special man.
Update: Hubby's birthday is the 5th. Kendalyn was born on the 6th. She was trying to make it in time to sing Happy Birthday but she made her own debut.

Sunday visitors

Kendalyn saw lots of family on the day of her arrival. Once everything settled down everyone left and mommy, daddy, and Kendalyn got some much needed rest.

We were excited to have our Sunday visitors.
