Sweet Summertime!!
Once I got home from the doctor and H-town traffic, I decided to mow the grass in the yard. As it turned out all of the neighbors did too and we spent the evening relaxing with cocktails with all the neighbors after yardwork, hehehehehe.
Saturday was Remington's booster shot appointment. Jason took him for the appointment and I stayed home. I was so alone without my boys : ( I got all dolled up and Jason came home and said "Road Trip". We went to Brenham and Chappell Hill. Though they are not extravagant trips if you know me and these two places, I was in paradise. We had Blue Bell ice cream at the creamery, dinner on the sqaure, and shopping. In that order!!! We went to the Original Chappell Hill sausage meat market to get some sausage and meat. I can still remember the smell of the market and getting bags full of sausage with my grandpa around Christmas time.
On Sunday we enjoyed playing in the backyard and grilling some meat and fresh vegetables on the pit. I think Jason is set on Chappell Hill meat, yum yum.
If this weekend is any indication of this summer, Welcome Summertime!!!!!!!
Tomorrow I am headed to College Station for a lunchdate with my great Aggie friends, Shayanne and Melissa. We are waiting the arrival of Melissa's twin girls, Meagan and Natalie and a 1st birthday celebration for Shayanne's baby girl, Shaylee.
I will share pictures tomorrow of the fun time.

Memorial Day Weekend
On Saturday, we went to my school to unload "the boat". Yes, I had a boat in my classroom where the kiddos enjoyed reading time. Jason also helped with taking down the high things on the wall. SO if you don't know being a teacher allows you to learn how to take down things and put things up...educational things. Jason and other husbands help the wives hang things on the walls in the classrooms and then of course must take things down. Did I say.....
On Sunday, we enjoyed visiting with my mom's family at the Stoneham Catholic Church Bazaar. We enjoyed BBQ, music, and games. Mom, dad, and Jason wanted to win so bad at the games, I don't know who was more competitive. We loved seeing our extended family. Uncle Harold played the fiddle with his band and we also saw numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. I guess when there is 14 children, the extended family is nothing???!!!!! This was the 100th anniversary of the church where my great-great grandfather Andrew helped found it.
We also had a crawfish boil at the neighbors that afternoon.

I have never had another friend named Courtney. She is studying to be a teacher!!!!!!

Having a Party!!!
If you know anything about us, we love to make money and spend it so the $30 is not the problem. Crawfish is great but not a top meal choice in our house. I never had it until I met Jason and he grew up with it so it's like me eating kolaches; you know when it is done right.
I did some goggling to see if my party planning etiquette is "old school" and I found this. It has to do with an anniversary party but I like her style. I did bold the answer in case you want to skip the entire letter.
Dear Miss Etiquette:
I was wondering if you could answer a question for me about party invitations. It is my parents' 25th anniversary this spring, and my siblings and I are throwing them a surprise party.
We know most of the guests would like to bring a gift or give money in a card. We do not want the guests to go to the trouble of buying a gift, but understand that people would still like to give something. How do we mention that a money tree will be set up for those who would like to give a gift?
Do we mention that it will be there, but guests are not obligated to give? Should it be mentioned as the last item in the invitation? Your help with this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Dear Concerned: May I recite some anniversary party etiquette? Planning the party is no different from planning any other party. You should have a budget and stick to it. It will determine all of your costs associated with your parents, your relatives, other guests, food, beverages, the anniversary cake, decorations, photographer. If it is a small private party, it is not customary for anyone to bring a gift to a 25th wedding anniversary party nor is it customary to ask your guests to bring a gift. For a large party of 75 people or more, you may expect people to bring gifts.
I do not know what part of the country is your home. I have heard about the money tree popping up at weddings, anniversary parties, bridal parties, baby showers, and some childrens' events. This customized gimmick is not in any etiquette book. In fact, it is considered rude to ask for money.
If you are sending an informal invitation -- the fill in the blank type -- and it is a small party you may put at the lower right hand corner, “Please, No Gifts” or “Please, No Presents.” If you are issuing formal invitations -- invitations that are engraved -- you would not have this message engraved on the card but would have it as an insert.
It would seem strange for children to ask family and friends for money for their parents. I know, I know. You really want to do this and money trees are a part of many parties but this theme is not part of proper etiquette.
By the way here are two little facts for you. There is proper etiquette for the anniversary cake, if you are ordering one. And if only a few people arrive with gifts for your parents, the gifts are opened away from the other guests and only in front of the giver or your parents may opened them after the party. It would be shameful to embarrass or hurt the feelings of those who brought their good wishes to the party by opening a gift in front of them that someone else brought. Remember, good manners is the art of making others feel comfortable.
Asking for money is beyond ‘tacky.’ If you continue to stamp your feet and tell me by return mail over and over again of all of your friends informing you that this practice of extracting money from people is perfectly all right, I will forever wonder why you uphold the example of bad manners as your beacon of light.

Denim & Diamonds
We both enjoyed the evening but it is difficult to separate yourself from the wild ones and the boring ones. It was a work event and you still have to see these people on Monday. Luckily, our group was in the middle. We laughed about the wild ones and at the ones that left before the sunset. At the end of the night, a lady came to our table and said, "The ones in the corner have the most alcohol at their table, this is where the party has been". OH YEAH!!!!

Pictureless Mother's Day Weekend
I had spent the entire week completing my classes for the semester. I am officially DONE with all of my classes. In June I will be compiling my portfolio and submitting it for Administration jobs : ) August is graduation time!!!! To say the least, this week has been extremely stressful.
Friday-I DID NOTHING!!! YEAH!!!!!
Saturday-We traveled to the Play Pen Ranch to visit with Jason's family. His dad was working at Nasa before the big flight so we missed seeing him. We also visited the graveside of Jay's mommy and placed pretty flowers for her. Afterwards, we went shopping for my school's Denim and Diamonds Party this Friday. EXCITED!!!! We then went to a dance recital for two of my little ladies. I found that I had numerous ladies participating from previous years. It was so fun to show my Cowboy my dancing Queens. Maybe I rubbed off on them...?????
Sunday-We traveled to Sealy to spend the day with my mom and family. We gave her flowers and jewerly. My brother made lunch and it was great.
We ended the evening with dinner at Alecia's. The best Mexican food on 290!!!
I realized this weekend (it was always there) that my Cowboy is the best around. I am so blessed to have him as my hubby. To be the mommy of his children would be amazing. We spent the weekend in our truck for over 5 hours of traveling time. I love our conversations, dreams, and adventures.
Also, if you have a suggestion for a great camera, let me know. My b-day is coming up....maybe it would be a good gift!!!!
